The scripture makes us understand that “Prayer”, “Making a request” and “Using the name” are three different things. Prayer is asking the father, making a request is different from using the name of Jesus as an instrument. Jesus said “use my name and I’ll see to it that it works”. Use the name as an instrument. A lot of people suffer for nothing, they have these mighty, wonderful instrument and they don’t know how to use it. What ever you demand in that name is assured. The bible says “He gave him a name that is above every other name, that at the NAME of Jesus, every knee should bow, its not a promise, its a sovereign declaration of Almighty God; In other words, its been passed into law in heaven, in earth and beneath the earth. What a NAME! When are you going to use the instrument? If you are using the name because He gave you the power of attorney to use it then why are you looking at your life to know whether or not the name should work? Another beautiful thing is that He didn’t say if you have faith you can use the name of Jesus, it didn’t say we needed any extra faith before we use the name of Jesus; The name of Jesus was given to us as a gift, we don’t need any extra faith to use it, we are at liberty to use the name of Jesus at any aspect of our lives. Use it everyday, its an instrument!

“And in that day ye shall ask me nothing. Verily, verily, I say unto you, whatever ye shall ask the father in my name He will  give it to you“. John 16:23

What Jesus is saying here is that, on that day you shall not pray to me. Jesus here is teaching about prayer and He says in that day; what day? Its the day of salvation, the day of the church, after his resurrection. He says its going to be a new day, things are going to be different. And when that day comes, when salvation is consummated you shall not pray to me. Some people wonder why their prayers are not being answered? Its simply because some people pray the wrong way like praying to Jesus in the name of  Jesus, but the scripture says “what so ever you shall ask the father in my name, He will give it to you”. Its wrong to say you’re not worthy to come into the presence of the father because you were unworthy and undeserving, but Jesus took your place and died for you and God raised him from the dead and He said if you believe that I did that for you, and accept the new life that I give to you, then you’ll be a new creation. The moment you accepted that and confessed with your mouth the lordship of Jesus Christ over your life, eternal life was impacted to your spirit, you became a child of God. And from that moment that you received Christ, you became worthy of his attention, deserving of his kindness and all of his blessings because you are now in Christ Jesus. His righteousness has become your righteousness so now you can act in boldness, you can ask for anything in the name of Jesus and you have Gods full attention.

The hairbrush was right in front of her, but no matter how she willed her hand to pick it up, she couldn’t lift it. Agatha Buys watched her hands with feeling of hopelessness as they tremble uncontrollably before her. For several minutes, she had attempted to use the hairbrush on her daughters hair, but found it impossible to get her hands still. She was just forty six years old, but at that moment she felt twice her age, bound by an infirmity that was slowly taking her life away. No one could tell her for sure what caused it. Her earliest recollection of having sensed something was wrong with her was when she couldn’t keep up with her family on a Sunday afternoon walk, she was overwhelmed with the feelings of tiredness. After series of tests and examinations, the neurologist diagnosed that she was suffering from multiple sclerosis which is a chronic progressive nervous disorder involving the loss of certain vital tissues in the bones. She tries asking “How?” but her mouth couldn’t. To top it all, the doctor (in his own kind words) said there was no cure right now but series of exercise could help. Agatha continued in this sad state until she heard about the healing school where she met with the man of God, Pastor Chris. He approached her, she fixed her gaze on him and that moment, she felt the anointing of God’s spirit flowing through her body.

“Surely He hath  borne our grief’s, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him, smitten of God and afflicted. But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed” (Isaiah 53:4-5).

This is such a beautiful scripture and its about Jesus, the Lamb of God who was slain from the foundation of the world. Jesus did so much for us when he was crucified. No, He wasn’t crucified for himself. Some people think he was a great martyr, but that’s not true either. He wasn’t a martyr; He was a sacrifice, and there’s a great difference between the two.

A sacrifice dies on behalf of another, while a martyr dies for his beliefs. Jesus did not die for his beliefs, He died for us.
